When Northwind Cloud started, the modern data stack was a badge of honour: a dozen best-in-class tools, each solving one slice of the problem. The team saw something else — cost, fragility, and a governance story that fell apart at the seams.
Their answer was to consolidate. Storage, pipelines, and governance under one roof, with defaults opinionated enough that a small team could operate like a large one. It was an unfashionable bet at the time, and it has aged well.
This year the platform's governance layer has become the reason customers consolidate onto it — the clearest sign yet that the original thesis was right.
